Summer 2008

The video is perfect and the music even better! A funny thing happened to me while watching it. I realized that, having been touched by the two Iowa pebbles that I found on the sands of Rye Beach, NH, that this was also MY "Summer 2008". Because every day that I checked the blog for updates I become more involved. Watching this video, I recognized not only you, but the people with you, and what you did with them, so that somehow even they are not complete strangers anymore. I knew where you were geographically and often emotionally all the way through this video. So thank you for the memories, the journey, the writing, the music, the experience. I will never forget you, and I am totally onboard for the next journey. I can hardly wait. XOXOXOXOX
Wow, it was so great to watch bits of the entire journey and remember back to where it all began! What an amazing experience for you two and also for those of us that were along for the ride through this site -- Thanks for sharing.
You guys are amazing and I am so glad I had the opportunity for you to touch my lives. I will not forget that drive. Thanks for being great examples of courage.
Just watching the recap video, it's obvious that the impact you've made by reaching out to people on this adventure far exceeded your modest initial expectations. And that doesn't include the inspiration to those of us just following along at home. Nor does it include the positive effect of this experience on yourselves. So congratulations!
What an incredible journey, summed up perfectly by that last video. I must admit when you first hatched the idea it seemed unrealistic, bordering on impossible. But seeing you dive into the Atlantic Ocean in Maine and then the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco confimed that you did indeed accomplish your goal. Fortunately 90 percent of the feedback from people was positive but for the other 10 percent still wallowing in stranger land I have one thing to say. You try it. Congratulations, guys on an incredible accomplishment. And Nanci, with all due respect, I hope the next journey doesn't come until my son has made enough money to finance the trip.
We are traveling coast-to-coast across the United States, reaching out to the people we encounter along the way and observing how people react and reach out to us. Our adventure began on the Atlantic coast in Maine on May 20, and we hope to reach the Pacific coast by summer's end.
We will live minimally, hiking with our belongings on our backs. We are giving ourselves a $10-per-day spending limit for food. We will not seek out luxuries, trying our best not to pay or ask for accomodations or transportation. That said, we're open to any good fortune that may come our way.
In an adventurous, extreme approach, this is a study of how Americans interact with one another in today's society. We will document the trip through our blog - www.nostrangerland.blogspot.com - with writings, photos, and videos, allowing people to interact and follow along with us on our journey.
WHY WE ARE DOING IT
We want to get to know our country, its people, and ourselves with the hope of inspiring others with our stories. We are tired of the negative news in our world and want to do something uniquely positive to counter it. We hope to create a movement of peace and make America a bit better of a place. We believe kindness is contagious and don't want to live in a society in which people are skeptical of strangers. We want to live in No Stranger Land.
Any way you can! Helping spread the word about our project would be greatly appreciated.
Feel free to contact us any time with specific questions or thoughts at: nostrangerland@gmail.com
Some kind followers have inquired as to how they can donate to the project to ensure we are able to stay afloat and see the journey all the way through. If you are interested in helping out in this way, please click here:
Most importantly, we hope you support us by following our adventure.
Thank you very much for your encouragement!

Brian's Dad
I second what Brian's dad said about the 10%!
You two were the absolute highlight of my summer. I miss you.
Lauren
What a journey!
It was a treat to follow along throughout your adventure and I really enjoyed this highlight reel. The chronological order was a nice touch as well.
Once you guys get back from Scotland...I want to hear even more about it!
Once again, great job!
Hi Guys!
I second Nanci's sentiment about following your journey on the new video & feeling like I knew the people in the pictures. : )
Thanks again for letting us share your journey. I'm looking forward to more adventures!
*hugs*
Carrie Marie
